What do you think of the new OSx Mountain Lion coming this summer? Like it, love it, or hate! Is Apple going to far with iOS integration?

Mountain Lion is ugly and used more iOS trash. It's a insult and counter productive to long time Mac owners. I don't use 10.7 and I won't be using 10.8. Apple has lost it's direction and needs to get a clue. :bye:

I like the idea behind the notification window but i think it should be more like Growl and include all applications not just messages, mail, and the like. They are also changing ical and Address books to Calendar and contacts respectfully. One more step to iOS.

Just based on Apple's "selling points," at their website, I'm disgusted. I think Steve Jobs would scream bloody murder if he saw that crap...or maybe not; he was weird that way, based on what I read in his biography. I have an iPad and love what it does. I, however, do NOT want a GIANT iPad instead of a computer. Epic fail, IMO.

I haven't even upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion, because I wasn't über impressed with Lion (I could care less about iCloud and whatever else its got). Apple would have to pay ME to try Mountain Lion. Pass.
I've become so good at mistakes, I think I'll make some more.

I disagree, I really like all of the new stuff. The new notes app, integration with iOS notification and messages, all of the cloud syncing, the airplay mirroring and share sheets. They all seem overdue, something that is a step ahead when it comes to accessibility to some stuff we wanted to do in the first place.

I don't care about twitter, game centre or the reminders app, although I hear they're pretty popular with most users. I don't really know what the hell you guys are talking about when you say they're turning a laptop into a giant iPad. The word is integration, not transformation.

But I wouldn't pay more than 20 dollars for it. Specially since they continue to ignore one of the most sought after requests: skinning support. Other than that, seems pretty nifty to me.

Oh yeah, watch out for gatekeeper, it may break our usual cracking practices!

Like many users, I don't like how iPad-like Lion is and Mountain Lion sounds like it's making additional steps in the wrong direction. Have owned every version of Mac OS prior to Lion but most likely will wait on a new OS until it becomes absolutely necessary.

@TarBzip: I think you'll get to wait for a loooooong long time before apple decides to change directions with iOS-like functionality, it seems to be working both financially and culturally, so I'm pretty sure they'll stick to it until they can blur the lines between the phone-pad-laptop niches more.

Seriously, what's wrong with all this stuff? it looks like another apple product? big surprise...

I don't expect they will change directions. I'll just be hanging back until obsolescence is kicking me in the tuckus.

Atari once lists its direction.... but i guess that was a different era.. i can't see apple doing it, there be too many protocols in place.

Wow after reading that you'd have thought steve jobs would have put in place the next 5 operating systems and there advanced capabilities. Maybe steve wasn't interested towards the end.. but yeah like it reads it looks as though they could have run out of ideas...!!

Surely not..?

Besides Airplay and iCloud theres not much left for ML from Lion. Than again its only a "Beta" or developers preview we still have some time before it actually hits mainstream. I for one am hoping for "One more thing."

Awesome IOS. Apple continues to dominate and improve IOS. They are dropping Mac from the OSX name. They already dropped "Computer" from their official name. Now all we have to do is wait for them to drop computers from their line of products. :thumb:
