"Word on the street" is that neither Uploaded.to nor Filesonic is saying a word about their recent actions. They just let people get surprised when they go to download. I just tried another ul.to link and got the same "no free downloading right now. Try later" message, with a UK proxy.

Filesonic's Facebook page has also disappeared.
Code: Select all

Also, I got more info from my windoze cracker friend and he says Fileserve is deleting premium accounts, left and right. All their blog says is "maintenance" on the 17th. So it's back to slow downloading for all of us.

I agree with you, HumptyBumpty: Mediafire and Rapidshare are looking pretty good. :thumb:

TORRENTSSSSS, for sure the way to go, @ least for C4M shares. We can just have our C4Mers keep a seed ratio or something...?

I think torrents are the last alternative if no other sites are working to share files. I miss filesonic so much :bye:
Hopefully all of this will stop, the internet is the last place they will touch. If they shut down our internet, we shut down their government! I wish I knew some hacking...

RapidShare & MediaFire will be next, no company can withstand the heat of governments with unlimited power, total disregard of laws, & the money grubbing motivation of the media giants behind them.

Then they will go after the Torrent sites. Welcome to Orwell's 1984 & Brave New World all rolled into one. Then the next thing ... trust me, it's in the works... is to microchip everyone. Anyone that wouldn't want that, must be a "terrorist."

Looks like it's time to dust off that old book... flip to Revelation, see how it all turns out...

I've used only MediaFire since 2006 and at least for now I know the site is still up and running, I will not be a happy pirate if it's next on the hit squad list. I guess the temporary blackout by Google and Wikipedia last week in protest against the upcoming two bills before Congress, known as the Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House was just a lost voice in the dark.

I say if they continue we exchange addresses and begin a mass mailing of DVD and CD's filled with shared music or applications, Let the government's own U.S. Postal service do our bidding and dirty work for us.

I actually would be fine with RS as well, pretty good service. Either way with in-house torrents it's not AS ideal, but as long as we have seed ratio requirements we should be solid and it may not be too bad?

I dunno, hopefully all of this goes away... but I don't think it will sadly.

C4M should move to using NZB's (Usenet). There is a site/forum I frequent that allows uploaders to share their content and users have to "Thank" the uploader in order to see the information. Works great and only costs me $10 a month.

I knew something like this was going to happen eventually...

Hopefully! I've been using those two hosters consistently for the past 4 years. :ninja:

This forum is all about "free" downloading, not paying to have access to downloads. Which is why torrent (public torrents aren't all that safe and others have limited memberships) and usenet (no good if you have to pay to access) links aren't allowed.

I really think that Dropbox may be the way to go from now on.
