You'll never switch no matter what happens? Ever? So why should Apple bother improving OS X? Sounds like you are locked in no matter what.

Not gonna lie, I really like it. Thats not to say that its better than OS X. I still think OS X is better. The way things work just seem more intuitive to me. And whenever I use a computer without Spaces or Quick Look, I get withdrawals.

But Windows 7 is definitely a huge step from Vista. I dont completely agree with some people comments of it being VIsta SP2. For starters, Win7 will be able to run on most netbooks, something Vista will never do. Ever. I doubt that even slimmed versions of Vista would run on a netbook. The libraries are nice, but not revolutionary. I havent had a chance to play around with the homegroups, but that seems to have some potential. One thing that really pisses me off is MS still hasnt implemented a multiple desktop system.

But overall, from the 2 days Ive kicked around Windows 7, it looks like a good OS.

switch what?
underwear? i don't wear any as it is.......
my sanity for complete frustration and hair pulling and kicking of little kittens? i don't think so.....(altho the kitten thing.....)
(fill in your own witty sayings....i'm tired....)

windoze 7 looks like the lipstick on the pig that is vista. more eye candy and not a whole lot of substance.

JM2c: I didn’t understand your discussion. Today I like to use OSX, but I didn’t know about future. Do you? Finally Sean Connery admit: never say never ;) Also you shouldn’t forget to think about productivity, applications, usability. And maybe MS has copied enough OSX features so Win7 or 8 or what ever is more user friendly than our favourite OS-X.

Think about: What will arise after 10.6? Look at the 10.5 - lets call it - desaster with stability, usability and so on. 10.4 is more stable than the latest release with all fixes. Also: will Apple stop making computers? Hey, the last hardware becomes more and more buggy. My old PBook was an overall quality product, worth any cent Ive paid for. But the new ones? bah! Crap, IMHO.
But today: like to stay with 10.4 and 10.5 and avoid MS.

Windows 7 recently released a beta ad campaign. It was called "Windows 7: Fixing Vista".

MS can't do anything to make me switch.

On a related note, "Windows: Life without Walls". No walls, where do I mount my windows?

No way!

Unless something terrible happens, of course. Other than that, it is not only about the OS, but also about the experience you get using the gadgets. You can't beat Apple on that.

NO

do a search around and find out what happened to DR-DOS and the error message - Ooops, showing my age with remarks like that. My partner has a vista laptop for work compatibility and it drives me nuts, it took ages to disable the eye candy and it still fights me all the way. microsoft is not a company I want to deal with. I will go linux before ms gets on any future machine.

The only application i really would like to see on mac is picasa but that's probably a different thread

No, Microsoft has done everything they could do to monopolize computer technology in every way possible. They have blackmailed distributors, left developers hanging and release their software without properly testing it. After unleashing Vista on the world I'm surprised they're still in business even with the stranglehold they put on their customers. I just hope with the increased market share Apple doesn't start playing the same games. We do owe Microsoft some gratitude. If they hadn't screwed things up so badly Apple and Linux wouldn't have been able to make the inroads they are enjoying today. Thanks Bill and Steve, keep up the good? work!
